Off Week

I'm finally out of work again. This week was not nearly as bad as last week. It turns out it is a lot easier to work 70 hours when you are not getting over the flu! Time to go enjoy the last few days with Chloe, get some rest and take care of all the things around the house that didn't get done last week.

The Timms are in UT!

We are so excited, Ashley, Jeremy and Chloe are here! We have been talking about their summer vacation for so long I can't believe that they are already here. I'm really excited to see my sis and Jeremy, but lets face it, it's really all about Chloe! You know that we are a proud Aunt and Uncle, but dang that girl is cute. We've already been to the park, fed the fish, rode a pony and spent many hours looking at the animals at Cabela's.
Chloe loved the singing fish, I think that was the highlight of her day. Plus she was really great at making all the animal noises and actions. (Growling like a bear)

New work schedule

I've officially started my new work schedule. I work 7 ten hour days in a row and then have 7 days off. Last week I worked 70 hours....it is no fun. I had three days off before starting and I was super sick during all three days, so I had to start the shift really tired and still sort of sick. Now that I'm on day two of no work, it's starting to feel almost worth it. Work is becoming a thing of the past and I almost don't remember how horrible it is to be in one place for 70 hours. I figured out that during my on week I only have 4 hours of non-sleeping time outside of work. I think that is the part that is going to be the hardest for me, the fact that during my on week I don't have time to do anything. I'm too tired to do even the basic things like fix dinner, pay bills or do the dishes. Pretty much my life just has to be put on hold for 7 days. Everyone says that it gets better though, so I really hope they aren't just saying that so I don't run screaming.

So this is what Ryan has been doing all day, while I've been sleeping, reading, watching movies, napping and feeling all together miserable. I have some horrible cold/flu and this is the weekend we decided to put in the sprinkler system. It's a good thing I have such an amazing husband, and a wonderfully helpful handyman, or today may have been a total bust.

Finally

Now that it is already very much summer, I finally got my vegetables planted. We tilled some compost into a small plot in our backyard, and hoped that something delicious will grow. I'll let you know what happens. I'm just hoping that they don't all die.
(The pic is so dark because I finished planting them after the sun had gone down)

How old am I?

I was talking to my friend Natalie yesterday when she told me not to move, in a very serious tone. Since we were outside I assumed it was a bee or something dangerous coming right for me, but oh no it was a gray hair....on my head. I was really surprised since I never dreamed I was old enough to have gray hair. According to most of my friends and family it is not too unusual though. At first I was a little sad, luckily Natalie fed me something delicious to make me feel better. Then I promptly took the hairs back to show Ryan. My husband being as awesome as is humanly possible, helped me to come to the realization that gray hair is only worth worrying about if you think it's worth worrying about. So that is why I took a picture of my gray hair smiling back at me.

Yard Work

This is why we've been so busy. Even though Ryan started classes a few weeks ago he still finds time to slave away in the yard. (like digging a 4ft deep hole for the sprinklers) We have many projects going and hopefully all of them will get finished in the near future....because their are so many other things I want to do this summer. We've dug all the weeds out and tilled both sides of the house, built a rock border and started the sprinkler system. Now we just need to find time to actually plant something in all of this dirt.

Stupid Railing

We've been trying to paint our front porch railing for five days now. We rented a pressure washer on Friday to clean off the railing and porch, then got up early to start painting on Saturday. I got it all taped off primed and one coat put on before I had to go to my co-workers wedding. By the time I got back it was so windy I couldn't paint any more. No problem I'll just leave it until Monday. Ryan sprayed one coat on Monday and then I started another when a huge storm blew in. No problem I'll finish it on Tuesday. I didn't even get to start today before the weather turned crazy rainy. In the mean time our porch has looked like this for five days now. With drop cloths and paper all over the place getting rained on and blown around. I refuse to take the paper off until I finish. Here's hoping that tomorrow night is wind and rain free.

Phoenix

We went down to Phoenix over Memorial weekend, for my friend Leslie's wedding and had a fabulous time. Ryan and I flew down with Rachael and met Ayumi at the airport. My super awesome Aunt Kelly and Uncle Tim let us stay with them (and also drive around their totally sweet ride so we didn't have to rent a car! Thanks!). We spent the first few days helping Leslie, visiting my relatives in Phoenix, going to rehearsals and bachelorette parties, and sunning and swimming. The wedding was on Memorial Day and was very beautiful and quite warm. We had to buy big hats to hide from the sun.
The four of us have been friends for many years. We were roommates in college and have been having fun ever since. I really love spending time with these girls. We try to talk on the phone, now that we live far apart, but nothing is as fun as actually hanging out. We always have such a great time.

We also got Ryan a hat, which I think he looks totally hot in. He always likes to pose for pics and in this one it just so happened that Ayumi needed to lie down and relax on the grass (being pregnant and all) right where it looks like Ryan just destroyed her! We also had to get our classic desert shot including a cactus and peace signs.
